School Day of Non-violence and Peace

    On January 30, Ben al-Khatib celebrated the International School Day of Peace. A statement was read in several languages by the students, including Arabic and Hebrew. We also had musical performances by our teachers and students. We leave here the text of the statement in English and French, the two languages of our center in addition to Spanish. The magic lies in the ability to transform and connect, not in destroying lives and sowing pain. The true essence of magic is found in peace, where differences are celebrated, and hands are clasped in brotherhood. War, with its shadowy presence, dims the brightness of humanity, replacing hope with desolation. Every conflict betrays the mystical power of coexistence, where life is valued more than any wealth or ambition. Instead of invoking storms of destruction, we should weave spells of harmony and understanding, safeguarding the most precious treasure: peace.

Terrorist actions require firm condemnation, but do not justify reprisals against civilians. Indiscriminate bombings displace hundreds of thousands of people, with children as the main victims. Restricting access to food, water and fuel violates regulations such as the Geneva Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A ceasefire is essential to prevent war crimes. States have the right to combat terrorism and hostages must be released, but the right to self-determination must be respected. We demand compliance with the UN resolutions supported by the European Union on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Les actes terroristes nécessitent une condamnation ferme, mais ne justifient pas des représailles contre les civils. Les bombardements aveugles déplacent des centaines de milliers de personnes, les enfants étant les principales victimes. Restreindre l'accès à la nourriture, à l'eau et au carburant viole des réglementations telles que la Convention de Genève et la Déclaration universelle des droits de l'homme. Un cessez-le-feu est essentiel pour prévenir les crimes de guerre. Les États ont le droit de lutter contre le terrorisme et les otages doivent être libérés, mais le droit à l'autodétermination doit être respecté. Nous exigeons le respect des résolutions de l'ONU soutenues par l'Union européenne sur le conflit entre Israël et la Palestine.

La guerra, con su sombría presencia, oscurece la brillantez de la humanidad, reemplazando esperanza con desolación. En vez de esto, tejiendo hechizos de armonía, deberíamos abrazar el arte de la liberación, resguardando el preciado tesoro: la paz.

Es esencial un alto el fuego para impedir crímenes de guerra. Los Estados tienen derecho a combatir el terrorismo y los rehenes deben ser liberados, pero el derecho de autodeterminación ha de respetarse. Exigimos el cumplimiento de las resoluciones de la ONU respaldadas por la Unión Europea sobre el conflicto entre Israel y Palestina.
